Showcasing the Burning Hand of Vengeance from Major Minis

Brought back in an unholy wrathful form by unknown forces, the Burning Hand of Vengeance walks again, only one goal in mind - to hunt and kill those that turned their back on the Emperor's light.

Bringing the GW's Classic Dreadfleet to Fully-Painted Life

In the late 2000s, naval fantasy wargaming went through a little rebirth. Everyone who had been wishing they could play Man-O-War again, found Uncharted Seas. It was a great game with great minis. No one contested them; least of all GW.

Then, GW put out Dreadfleet.

14 years on, and the sculpts look as good today as they did when the game first came out. I was hoping it was a tester for a new, naval wargame. The next Man-O-War. Sadly, that never happened.

BattleTech is a tabletop wargame that simulates combat between giant robots called "BattleMechs." The game was first published in the 1980s by FASA Corporation - with, shall we say, GREAT INSPIRATION drawn from Harmony Gold's Macross/Robotech?

All the new, high-detail hotness for Battletech now is coming from Catalyst Game Labs.

In BattleTech, players control a lance of BattleMechs and engage in combat with their opponents' lances. Each player has a certain number of points to spend on their lance, which they can use to purchase different types of BattleMechs, vehicles, and other support units.

BattleTech is known for its complex gameplay, deep lore, and for getting FASA sued by Harmony Gold. The game has a large and dedicated fan base and has inspired a number of spin-off games and other media. I look forward to Battletech for years to come.

Age of Sigmar: Some Blades of Khorne Painting

Karanak came out with a fair amount of presence (must be the three heads) as did the Skulltaker. The Bloodletters were relatively bright which made for a strong contrast with the rest of the force.

These are for a client’s special project (hint: books are involved). He sent us some lovely 3d files. We filament printed them - they’re HUGE!

Painting these required larger brushes. House painting brushes. This wasn’t an issue; painting is painting. It was a good exercise getting used to working with larger brushes though.

Warhammer Old World: An Empire Altdorf Army

When we last painted an Empire army, I was a young man.

Not balding. Not tire-shaped. Stronger eyes. And no one liked GW.

Some things don’t change I guess: like how awesome Empire armies are. This one is a mix of old, metal figures, returned-to-the-world plastic ones, and even some Mordheim sculpts. I loved watching this one take shape. It was like seeing an old friend again.

Cities of Sigmar: Freeguild Painted for Age of Sigmar

Freeguild minis are nuts. One one level, its stuff that makes no sense; like bayonets attached to what seem to be arquebuses. On the other, its Mordheim-y touches like skulls hanging off harnesses.

I love the Mordheim feel. Its an intersection of unpleasantness, fascination, and Monty Python logic and charm.

Painting Up 3d Printed Terrain for D&D

Some 3d printed buildings we were sent. Fantasy buildings, especially those that open up revealing playable surfaces, are always fun to work on. There’s often fun textures to work with; stone. Wood. plant matter. Cracked roof shingles.

The approach is to create variety between these. Then, variations within for a bit more contrast and visual interest.
