We’re happy to match another painter’s color scheme — but very rarely their painting style. This is because painting methods are like languages. I can read a French menu out loud, but if a Frenchman heard me, he’d probably ask me to never do it again….
Everyone’s painting is different. They develop skill in their chosen method. Switching methods won’t give the same results.
So, for this order, I figured “hey! Let’s switch methods. How bad could it be?”
We were sent some minis painted in a fairly different style from how we normally paint. However, the differences seemed incremental, and built on top of the same foundation steps we would have taken. So, in the end, we pulled it off. It was TWICE as much work as we’d bargained on, but we learned another way to paint. That, in itself, is always useful.
There were painted to a level higher than Exhibition, but which costs twice as much.
